Lab data in. Decision-ready analysis out.
Calyra BioData gives research labs, contract labs and small biotech teams the biostatistics, bioinformatics and QC reporting of an in-house data team — on a fixed-scope contract, without the headcount.

What we do
Four service lines, one point of contact
Small labs rarely need a full-time statistician or bioinformatician. They need one, properly, for four weeks. We scope the work, staff the right specialist, and stand behind the deliverable.
Biostatistics & statistical analysis
Study design and sample-size justification, regression and ANOVA, survival analysis, and clean statistical write-ups your reviewers and sponsors will accept.
Lead serviceBioinformatics support
Sequencing and omics pipelines run end to end — RNA-seq differential expression, methylation, microbiome, variant calling — with publication-grade figures.
Also availableQA / QC data review
An independent pass over datasets, method validation reports and SOPs — catching transcription errors, drifting controls and gaps before a client or auditor does.
Also availableGLP & GCLP QA support
Overflow documentation review, gap analysis against your quality manual, and practical audit preparation for smaller regulated labs.

The four-week Lab Data Reporting & QC Sprint
Our standard entry point. One tightly defined problem, one fixed price, one deadline. At the end you own a working reporting pipeline and know exactly what a longer engagement would be worth.
- Fixed price
- C$4,500 – C$5,500
- Duration
- 4 weeks
- Revision rounds
- Two, included
- Week 1 — Data intake and audit. We take your exports, instrument files and spreadsheets and document what is actually in them, including the errors.
- Week 2 — Cleaning and QC rules. A repeatable cleaning script plus explicit QC checks so bad records are flagged automatically, not spotted by luck.
- Week 3 — Reporting build. The dashboard or report template your team will actually use, built on the cleaned data with the figures you asked for.
- Week 4 — Handover. Walkthrough session, written methods, commented scripts, and a short list of what we would fix next.
Quality control
Process instead of promises
Anyone can produce a p-value. The value is in being able to defend how it was produced six months later.
A written analysis plan before anyone touches data
Hypotheses, endpoints, statistical methods and figure list agreed in writing first. It prevents the common failure where methods get chosen after seeing the result.
Reproducible code with every deliverable
Commented R, Python or SAS scripts that regenerate every table and figure from the raw input. You keep them, with no licence strings attached.
Independent peer review on high-stakes work
Anything heading for a regulator, a sponsor or a publication is checked by a second qualified analyst before it reaches you.
A deliverable checklist before anything ships
Version, data provenance, method statement, assumption checks, figure legends and file formats verified against a fixed list. Every time.
Engagements
Fixed scopes, published ranges
No hourly meters and no discovery invoice. You get a written scope with a price before work starts, and change orders if the scope moves.
Data audit
C$1,500 – 3,000
One-off analysis or an honest assessment of the state of your data. 1–2 weeks.
Reporting sprint
C$4,000 – 8,000
Dashboard and QC reporting build, delivered and handed over. 3–4 weeks.
Multi-source project
C$8,000 – 20,000+
Several instruments or systems reconciled into one analysable dataset. 6–10 weeks.
Monthly retainer
C$1,000 – 3,000
Standing analytics capacity for recurring reporting. Three-month minimum.
Straight answers
Questions labs ask first
Do you run any physical lab work?
No. Calyra BioData is a dry-lab practice — we work only with data you already have or are about to generate. There is no wet-lab testing, no sample handling, and no diagnostic interpretation.
What does a first project usually look like?
Most labs start with the four-week Lab Data Reporting & QC Sprint at C$4,500–C$5,500, or a smaller one-off data audit from C$1,500. Both are fixed-scope and fixed-price, so you know the number before we begin.
Who actually does the analysis?
Projects are scoped and quality-controlled in-house and delivered with vetted independent specialists — biostatisticians for clinical-style analysis, bioinformaticians for sequencing work. You are told who is on your project before it starts.
Will we be able to reproduce the results ourselves?
Yes. Every engagement ships with the commented R, Python or SAS scripts that generated the figures and tables, plus a written methods section. Nothing lives only on our machines.
What are your turnaround times?
One-off audits run one to two weeks. Dashboard and QC-reporting sprints run three to four weeks. Larger multi-source projects run six to ten weeks. Timelines assume complete data within five business days of kickoff.
Tell us where your lab data gets stuck.
A 20-minute scoping call. We map your data flow, name the bottleneck, and tell you plainly whether this is worth paying for.
